As Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, I am pleased to welcome you to the Skills/Compétences Canada Nova Scotia Provincial Competition.
You’ve chosen an exciting path and are on your way to a career that is valued, respected and rewarding. Each one of you brings unique strengths, perspectives and experiences to the table and to this year’s competition!
Jobs in sectors such as construction, transportation, manufacturing and service are in demand. That’s why we need people like you who have the right skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to fill these jobs and seize the opportunities!
And we’re here to help. Many supports are available through your apprenticeship training to ensure you have the right equipment, tools, materials and support to help you find an apprenticeship position and succeed in your chosen path.
Every year, the Government of Canada invests nearly $1 billion in apprenticeship supports through loans, tax credits, Employment Insurance benefits during in-school training, project funding, and support for the Red Seal Program to help build a robust trades workforce. Find your skilled trade.
We will continue to collaborate with Skills/Compétences Canada to ensure young Canadians like you can start building a good career!
Your hard work and creativity are an inspiration for many. Good luck in the competition!
