Call for Applications: SCNS Alumni Association President

The Skills Canada – Nova Scotia (SCNS) Alumni Association celebrates alumni stories and successes, while providing opportunities to volunteer, network and develop their skills and accomplishments. The SCNS Alumni President acts as an ambassador for SCNS at the national level, advocates for the competitors, volunteers, and staff of SCNS and helps to contribute to planning for future SCNS competitions and events.

Our current Alumni Association President is Nicole Hamilton, Red Seal Motor Vehicle Repairer (Automotive Body & Paint), four-time Nova Scotia Skills Competition gold medalist, and Skills Canada National Competition gold medalist in Car Painting.

SCNS is currently seeking applications for the SCNS Alumni Association President.

This is a 3 year term beginning at the Annual General Meeting on December 7 2023, and concluding Fall 2026. The President will have the opportunity to represent Nova Scotia on the national stage and contribute to how alumni are included in future SCNS competitions and events. Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have competed at the Skills Canada National Competition on behalf of Nova Scotia or at the International Abilympics as members of Team Canada
  • Applicants must reside in Nova Scotia

The responsibilities of the President of the SCNS Alumni Association include:

  • Represent Nova Scotia on the National Alumni Committee and participate in approx. 3
    teleconference meetings per year.
  • Facilitate alumni engagement at the Skills Excellence Awards.
  • Attend and assist with the delivery of the Nova Scotia Skills Competitions.
  • Encourage and coordinate alumni to volunteer at SCNS events.
  • Assist with the Team NS Meeting.

The successful candidate will:

  • Travel free to the Skills Canada National Competition as the Nova Scotia member of the National
    Alumni Committee.
  • Receive leadership skills development training at the Skills Canada National Competition.
