Abilympics Coach / Mentor Training Plan
Abilympics Team Canada - Training Plan
As we begin the journey toward Helsinki 2027, we’re asking coaches to outline their anticipated training plan from now until November. This doesn’t need to be set in stone — the official Contest Descriptions will help shape the training plan once they are released.
For now, we’re looking for a realistic commitment to regular training, including a mix of virtual and in-person sessions where appropriate. Please provide the dates you currently have planned, what you’ll be working on, and any materials or equipment you anticipate needing.
Plans can be adjusted as we learn more. Having a starting plan now will help us support you, coordinate training, and plan our budget effectively.

Coach Expectations
- Coaches/Mentors will be assigned a designated competitor and will commit to providing 2–3 training sessions per month, either virtually and/or in person. Responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of individualized training plans, strengthening technical skills, building confidence, and helping competitors prepare for the international stage.
- Coaches will maintain regular communication with Skills NS staff regarding competitor progress, challenges, and support needs, and will participate in occasional check-ins or team meetings as required. Successful candidates will foster an inclusive, respectful, supportive, and competitor-centered training environment throughout the coaching process
