WorldSkills 2022, Shanghai China

The WorldSkills Competition is the largest and most influential skills competition in the world. It represents the best of international excellence in skilled trades and technologies. Every two years, young competitors from around the globe gather at the WorldSkills Competition, with the goal of earning the title of world champion in their Skill Area.

WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 Selection Event

 Team Canada will be selected from the results of the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) 2022 in the WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 category. Each province and territory is eligible to submit a competitor/team to the selection event. This is a separate competition that will run simultaneously at SCNC 2022 in Vancouver on May 25-28.

The winners of the WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 category will determine the competitors selected to participate on WorldSkills Team Canada (WSTC) 2022 in Shanghai, China.

 

Team Nova Scotia – WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 Selection Event

Skills Canada – Nova Scotia (SCNS) will determine Team Nova Scotia WorldSkills Selection Event competitors through an application process. Eligible competitors and coaches will be asked to submit an application form that will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of SCNS partners and stakeholders.

An official announcement will be made in December to introduce Team Nova Scotia for the WorldSkills Selection Event.

To be eligible to join Team NS: WorldSkills Selection, competitors must meet the WorldSkills eligibility requirements. Competitors must not be older than 23 in the year of the WorldSkills 2022.

No, the WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 Selection Event and the Skills Canada National Competition will run simultaneously in Vancouver May 25 – 28 2022.

Yes, coaches will be selected through an application process similar to the competitor applications. Coaching criteria will be determined by a selection committee to ensure all coaches can support their competitors in the lead up to the WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 Selection Event.

 

A training schedule will be created by the competitor’s coach. Competitors will be required to sign a training contract before joining Team Nova Scotia. Competitors can expect to dedicate approximately 20 hours a month in the lead up to the WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 Selection Event.

No. Registration fees, competition travel and training costs will be covered by the generous support of our partners.

No. The number of competitors will be selected based on coaching availability, funding, and competitor qualifications and commitment. A selection committee will determine the number of competitors for Team Nova Scotia based on the criteria above.
