Sixty students in grades 8, 9, and 10 from the Halifax Regional Centre for Education and Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial will be attending Skilled Futures in Technology, presented by Skills Canada – Nova Scotia (SCNS) on Wednesday, February 20, at NSCC Ivany Campus in Dartmouth.
Skilled Futures in Technology is a one-day event that offers students the opportunity to explore technology career options by participating in hands-on workshops, ranging from electronics and oceans technology to print production.
“Careers in the IT sector are growing in demand,” said Courtney Gouthro, Executive Director of SCNS. “Our Skilled Futures series provides students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of career options in technologies. The most exciting part of the day is when they discover a career choice that they may not have considered before.”
Skilled Futures in Technology is one in a series of one-day career exploration events taking place from October to April at locations across the province. This event would not be made possible without the generous support the Nova Scotia Community College, and the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Skills Canada – Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for Nova Scotian youth to explore skilled trades and technologies, discover their passions, and strive for excellence.
