At Skills Canada – Nova Scotia, we work with hundreds of volunteers every year. These include: board members, teachers, instructors, industry reps, alumni, workshop facilitators, volunteers who plan & deliver our competitions and coaches who help train our competitors. These volunteers sit on committees and help create policies and strategic plans that strengthen our organization. They also help make our ideas for events a reality. With their help, we are able to reach 6000 students in a year!

Each year we recognize a volunteer that has stood out and made a significant contribution. At the 2016 Skills Excellence Awards this past December, we were proud to award Dale Crawford of the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency our Volunteer of the Year Award. Dale, an intelligent, calm, and kind hearted individual, offered his knowledge and strategic input, as an active contributor to the Board of Directors, and numerous committees for several years. He volunteered at our busiest event of the year, the 2016 Nova Scotia Skills Competition and also travelled to Moncton to assist with the 2016 Skills Canada National Competition. Dale has helped to make an already strong relationship between SCNS and the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency feel stronger. His efforts on our committees and Board will have lasting impact for the organization. Dale, we can’t thank you enough!
